Josie’s Cozy Corner: 11-Month Update
Hey friends! ✨
Our little Jose Jose turned 11 months on September 2nd. I am clearly behind on her updates, but that’s okay because this is motherhood. It’s busy, messy, beautiful, tiring, and the best thing I’ve ever done. These girls are always teaching me new things and how to slow down. I wouldn’t trade this time for anything in the world. Anyway, now that I’ve got all my feelings out, lol, let’s get into Josie’s update!
This month Josie’s personality started to shine. She started walking one week before hitting 11 months, and that made me so happy! Since the girls were starting their new daycare after Labor Day, I was really hoping her old teachers would be able to see her walk in person, and that prayer was answered :). She walked a whole month earlier than Lyla did, so she has that on Lyla. I’m sure she’ll hang that over Lyla’s head someday… haha. Josie has such a desire to learn and explore. She’s fearless when it comes to trying new things. She loves her bath time and will lean so far over the tub while I’m filling it up that I’m surprised she hasn’t fallen in yet, haha. When she’s in the bath, we’ve been working on staying seated. She loves to stand up and walk over to the faucet to take our little dolphin cover off.
This month she learned how to blow kisses and wave goodbye. I’ve noticed too, when she walks or crawls, she gets frustrated when something is in her way. On more than one occasion, I’ve watched her pick something up and throw it out of the way so she can get through. One bad thing that happened this month was that she got hand, foot, and mouth disease. She had been inconsolable for a couple of nights. We couldn’t put her down, even for a moment, without her starting to cry. We took her to the doctor, and the nurse practitioner saw sores on her throat. Thankfully, it never spread anywhere else, but I was worried for a moment that the rest of us would get it. Lyla has never had that, so we weren’t sure what to expect.
Some things Josie currently loves are applesauce pouches. She gets so excited when we take one out of the fridge and will hand it back to us when she’s ready for more. She also enjoys playing under tables and in closets. If she’s left alone in a room, chances are she walks out with something from the laundry basket. It could be a shirt of hers, something of Lyla’s, or daddy’s boxers! She loves playing with clothes. Her favorite activities are riding in the jeep and swinging. She could swing for hours if we let her. She actually gets really upset when we have to take her out. Speaking of her getting upset, that’s one thing Josie has never been afraid to show us. She lets us know when she’s not happy! Haha.
As I’m writing this, Josie is already one and her birthday party is this weekend. I can’t believe it’s already been a year, but I am so excited to celebrate our sweet babe. This little one completed our family, and we love her to pieces. Josie has got to experience quite a few birthday parties thanks to all of Lyla’s friends having birthdays, so she’s no stranger to how they work. I’m looking forward to her trying cake for the first time. Lyla wasn’t too sure and just poked her cake, but I have a feeling Josie is just going to grab hers and destroy it, so stay tuned to hear how that goes!
Anyway, that is all I have for this update. Her 12 Month update, I’m hoping to get up by the end of this week or early next, so be on the lookout for that.
Thank you so much for reading! ✨
Love, Brandi
