Josie’s Cozy Corner: 2 Month Update
Hi friends! ✨
Can you believe Josie is already 2 months old? I sure can’t! This little one has been BUSY! So, let’s jump right into all the exciting things our sweet girl has been up to! First, we celebrated Josie’s baptism. It was a beautiful day, and I was so happy to have her wear the same baptismal dress that Lyla wore. In my opinion, the best part about her having the same gender is how identical they look. It’s honestly crazy. Speaking of big sis, Josie got to experience her first zoo trip with her this month! We lucked out on the weather. It was a perfect Autumn day, and while we don’t know what Josie’s favorite animal is just yet (She snoozed about the whole time we were there), I have a feeling there will be more zoo memories to be had in the near future. Another first for Jose this month was her first Thanksgiving! She may not have been able to eat all the delicious food, but our family is extra thankful for this sweet babe of ours!
Currently, Josie loves to bury her face into my arm when she sleeps. Similar to Lyla, she is not a fan of light when she sleeps and wants to hide her face any chance she gets. I’ve noticed that when she gets tired, one of her cues is to play with her hair. I think it’s her way of self-soothing before she slips into dreamy land. We’ve also noticed that she blows bubbles with her mouth now, and one of my favorite milestones she’s reached this month is her smile! 🙂 She’s definitely found it, and gives Lyla the most smiles out of anyone. One thing she does not like is when we are on a car ride and have to stop at a red light. She must have inherited daddy’s road rage 😉.
We’ve learned that Josie has some tricks up her sleeve. One day I was changing her diaper, and when I went to put the new one on, she kicked her foot out and flipped it over her head! Thankfully, she only does that with clean diapers or else we’d really be in trouble! 😂 One other trick I’ve witnessed her do is pick her rattle up with her feet! She’s been working on her hand grip, but apparently decided her feet needed some practice too 😂.
Some not so fun things we’ve dealt with this month is her first cold, dry skin, and spit up! Her skin is thankfully on the mend. I started using Cerave baby lotion, and that has done wonders for her skin. Before we switched to that, her skin felt like sandpaper. I’m sure that had to be uncomfortable for her. Her cold has also gone away, and we’re thankful it was just a cold. With this time of year, you just never know what your baby might catch. So, we’re happy that she’s healthy and well! As for her spitting up, her pediatrician said it’s normal and very common for babies. We just got lucky with Lyla because that was never an issue for her, so having a burp cloth nearby at all times is new for us. However, we’ve been experimenting with different positions and taking more breaks in between feedings to minimize some of that.
All in all, Miss Josie Rae is doing wonderful, and we can’t wait to see what month three brings!
Thanks for reading! ✨
Love, Brandi
