Josie’s Cozy Corner: 5 Month Update
Hey friends! ✨
Our Jose Jose is 5 months! This little girl is the absolute sweetest! Little by little, her personality is starting to shine. As much as I want to keep her this little forever, I’m looking forward to learning more about this tiny human God blessed us with. This month started rough for Josie. She came down with a nasty cold around Valentine’s Day. She was coughing so much that we thought she had RSV. We took her to the doctor, and she tested negative for the flu and RSV. However, because she had a small amount of wheezing, they prescribed us a breathing treatment to help open up her lungs. Those helped, but the cough has lingered. We’re hoping she’s just getting back-to-back colds. She’s a trooper and has remained in good spirits despite not feeling 100%.
Josie’s latest hyper fixation is reaching for anything that’s within her sight. She loves the blue cup we use to rinse during bath time, and she has recently discovered her feet! Another toy she likes is her bell. Similar to big sister, she loves shaking it. Of course, anything she gets her hands on immediately goes to her mouth. So, we’ve had to be careful leaving things on the floor because she’s getting more mobile by the second!
Some recent milestones she’s hit are rolling from tummy to back and rolling back to tummy once. She’s not consistently rolling, but that’s okay, we’re still working on strengthening those muscles! She still isn’t the biggest fan of tummy time, but we’ll get there 🙂. One thing she loves is reaching for her bottle at bedtime; however, this girl gets so distracted while eating! If I don’t take her to another room, she will literally stop eating and follow whoever’s in the room currently.
Josie also experienced many firsts this month. She experienced her first snow day and spent it snuggling and playing with big sis! Maybe next year she’ll get to play in the snow! She also celebrated her first Valentine’s Day. A tradition I started with Lyla when she was a baby was to “heart attack” her room by sticking hearts around her room with stuff I loved about her. It was so much fun to continue that with Josie, too. Daycare also had a Valentine’s Day party, and Josie gifted all her friends rubber duckies. Another first for Josie was her first fire drill. Looking at the picture, I don’t think she was a fan! Josie still enjoys talking, and I’ve been working very hard to teach her to say “mama”. However, knowing this girl and her love for her sister, she will probably end up saying Lyla first 😂.
Overall, Josie is doing well, and it’s been a privilege watching her grow. I can’t wait to see what month six will bring!
Thanks for reading! ✨
Love, Brandi
