Josie’s Cozy Corner: 6 Month Update
Hi friends!
I am so behind on this update, it’s not even funny. Life has been busy between work, social activities, and raising our tiny humans. Despite the chaos, our hearts are full. Six months has been such a fun age. Josie is doing amazing things, and it’s bittersweet knowing that she’s already halfway to turning one. Like, where did my baby go?!
Anyway, I have so much to update you on, so let’s dive in. First, Josie is growing like a weed! At her six-month checkup, she weighed 15 pounds and was 26 inches tall. Her appetite has been increasing, and we recently started her on solids. Daycare gave her a Cheerio, and she handled it like a champ. Since we started integrating solids, we’ve been working on getting her to sit in her highchair at dinner with us and on learning how to pray.
Daycare has been going great! She has lots of little friends and gets along with them very well. Daycare shared one day when the babies were lying down, Josie reached over for her friend’s hand and held it while they lay next together. They also shared that she gets a kick out of the lion pictures they have hanging on the walls. Josie busts into a fit of giggles when she sees them. Maybe that’s her way of telling us that the lion is her favorite animal lol.
Josie has been working on using her pincer grasp and sitting up without assistance. She’s done such a great job with this! She really loves playing with different fabrics and enjoys having her feet rubbed when she’s tired. She also loves being in the bouncer and gets some air when she’s in it. One thing I’ve noticed that Josie does not like is cuddling when she’s overtired. If she’s overstimulated or we get her down too late, she doesn’t want to be rocked. She would prefer to go down in her crib and self-soothe. Thankfully, she still lets me cuddle when she’s alert and happy!
Josie celebrated her first St. Patrick’s Day and matched outfits with Lyla for the day. We had a little girls’ day, and I took them down to the museum. It was quite the adventure! I was fortunate enough to find close parking because if I had to drive around for another second, Josie would have lost her marbles. As we started walking up the front entrance, I realized I didn’t see a ramp. I had Josie in the stroller, and all I could see was a massive amount of stairs. I had no other choice but to carry the stroller with Josie in it up the stairs. Luckily, another mom saw me and helped me. Little did we know there was an entrance to the right I could have entered and taken an elevator up, but spoiler alert: The elevators didn’t work that day!
Once we got inside, I went to pay, and the lady at the front desk asked me for my license plate number. I panicked. I didn’t know my license plate number by heart! I wasn’t about to go back down all those stairs with both girls. She explained they needed to input it into their system, so if an officer ran my plate, they could see I was a visitor at the museum. Without it, there was a chance my car could get towed. That was the last thing I wanted. Thankfully, the lady at the front desk offered to stay with the girls so I could run out and grab it. I thought that was the end of our troubles. However, once we finished exploring the first floor, we went to use the elevator and found out it wasn’t working. So, I ended up carrying Josie around the whole museum. Talk about a workout! Needless to say, next time we go back, we will be taking Daddy with us!
This past month, we also visited the zoo for the first time as a family of four. Josie didn’t sleep as much this time 🙂. With the weather starting to get nicer, we’ve really enjoyed spending time outside and getting some fresh air. This season of life is so special to me, and I’m doing my best to lean into it before it passes. If I could capture time in a bottle, this would be it. Anyway, that is all I have for this month’s update. Thank you so much for reading! Stay tuned for month 7! ✨
Love, Brandi ✨
