Josie’s Cozy Corner: 8 Month Update
Hey friends!
Our little Jose Jose is 8 months old! How wild is that?! It seems like just yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital, and now she’s doing several new things every day. It amazes me how quickly the first year always goes by. As always, I wish I could keep my girls this little forever, but every new chapter comes with new adventures, so I’m excited to see where their future takes them.
This month with Josie was filled with all sorts of milestones and special memories. Josie had her first “school” pictures taken. Our usually smiley baby decided to develop stranger danger this month, and cried the entire time. Big sis Lyla was such a good sport and tried to cheer her up, but Josie wasn’t having it. At least when she’s older, we’ll look back at these pictures and have some good laughs! Josie has been working very hard on sitting up on her own and trying to crawl (spoiler alert, she now has those skills down!). We were convinced she was teething a few weeks ago because she had all the symptoms, but we still haven’t seen a tooth pop through yet. I’m sure it’s just around the corner. Lyla got her first tooth at 9 months, so we’ll see if Josie follows in her footsteps.
Speaking of following in Lyla’s footsteps… Josie is a big fan of music too! One of her favorite movements is shifting her body forward while seated. Daycare said her favorite genre is 90s throwbacks, but also loves rocking out to worship music ☺️. Josie is a big foodie and loves her solids! We think breakfast is her favorite meal of the day. I don’t think I’ve seen her turn down something yet. She is quick to grab whatever we put on her tray. She loves mashed potatoes! In fact, she loves it so much that she will rub it all over her face like she’s putting on a face mask 😂. Daycare also informed us she is officially part of the “5 o’clock cracker gang” because she threw the biggest fit when her older classmates got a cracker and she didn’t (does this sound familiar? Looks like music isn’t the only thing she and her sister have in common 😜).
Josie still reaches for anything that’s in our hands, but her latest fixation has been with her hairbrush. So, I have to grab two so I can switch between them when I’m brushing her hair. As far as new experiences go, Josie attended her first Muffins with Mom and celebrated her first Mother’s Day with me. She also got to participate in her first water play with her classmates. We’re not quite sure how she feels about it yet, but I think in time she’s going to love it! She visited Grandpa Terry’s gravesite and got to meet Aunt Becky for the first time over Memorial Day weekend. We also had the opportunity to take her mini golfing! Not that she will remember or was able to play, but she did enjoy watching Lyla and holding onto daddy’s key fob 🙂. That’s all I have for this month on our sweet Jose!
Thanks for reading! I’ll talk to you all again very soon.
Love, Brandi
